In Memorandum – Lloyd Button Jr. (1927 – 1996)
In 1963, Lloyd Button, who was a University of Maine Dairy Specialist , and his wife Ruth started a tax practice specializing in farm tax returns. In 1985, they gave their tax practice to their son and employee Lloyd Button III. Lloyd Button Jr. continued to provide expert tax advice until his death in 1996.

Lloyd Button III EA “Chip” has more than 30 years of experience with tax laws. He first started as an employee at his parent’s tax practice then later started his own business in 1981.
Chip specializes in all forms of business entity taxation, farm taxation, and representing taxpayers with tax problems. Chip has an Accounting Certificate from Thomas College , Business Degree from Thomas College , and has successfully completed the three-year program at National Tax Practice Institute. Chip has an Enrolled Agent License from the Department of the Treasury that allows him to represent taxpayers and protect their rights before the IRS. Chip is also a Certified ProAdvisor for QuickBooks Accounting products.
Chip is an active member in good standing with the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP), National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA), and Maine Association of Professional Accountants (MAPA).
Stephanie S. Johnson, CPA
Stephanie, CPA has nearly 20 years of experience specializing in not-for-profit accounting. She began her career in public accounting specializing in non-profit auditing, accounting and tax engagements and has served as the Director of Finance/Administration for non-profit organizations in Central Maine for the past 15 years. Stephanie began working part-time at Button’s Tax Service in the fall of 2012. Stephanie provides support to Chip in QuickBooks and in income tax preparation. She graduated from Thomas College in 1991 with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and holds a current Certified Public Accountants license in the State of Maine.
Gloria began working for Button’s Tax Service in July 2014. She is the Administrative Assistant/Payroll Processor. Gloria has over 20 years of experience with payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, customer service, and numerous other bookkeeping tasks. Gloria previously worked for a local software company for 10 years.
Brianna is a 2013 graduate of Thomas College with a BS in Accounting. Prior to obtaining her MBA in spring of 2014, Brianna interned at a local tax firm where her duties included providing backup support in income tax preparation as well as assisting in various office duties. In winter of 2014, Brianna joined the Button’s Tax Service team where she provides support to Chip in income tax preparation as well as QuickBooks support. Brianna also prepares individual tax returns.
Janet began working at Button’s Tax Service, Inc. in September 2016 as a bookkeeper, providing support to staff in QuickBooks and other bookkeeping projects. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine. Janet previously worked as a bookkeeper for a non-profit agency for 26 years.
Desiree is a 2012 graduate of Kennebec Valley Community College with an Associate degree in Business Administration. Desiree joined Button’s Tax Service, Inc. in December of 2015 where she works seasonally as an administrative assistant and data entry clerk. In addition Desiree works at Skowhegan Savings Bank in their Deposit Operations Department.
Valued Employees Who No Longer Work for Us
|Leesha Smith worked for us from 2007 through 2015. She moved to Colorado in February 2015 but continued to provide us with support through October of 2015. We miss her and wish her the very best in her new life goals. Thank you Leesha for all that you did here!
||Jeanne Hogate started working for us in 2006 until she retired in 2014. She was the “Queen” of all trades and we miss her but wish her the best in her retirement. Thank you very much for all you did Jeanne!
||Louise Davis worked for Button’s Tax Service starting in 2008 until she relocated to another town in Maine in 2014. Lou was a great addition to our team during her time here and we wish her the very best of luck in her new career. Thank you Lou!
